Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni Attends Karai Karai Annual Festival
His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON (Chiroman Gujba) represented by his deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana Wazirin Fune attends the Karai Karai annual festival known as Bala Bara Ma Jalam, in Jalam Town of Damban Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The event which was held on 14th January, 2025 was a vibrant and culturally rich event, that brought together Karai Karai worldwide to celebrate their beautiful cultural heritage.
The Deputy Governor calls on the Karai Karai tribe to live peacefully with other people around them. He advises the participants to continue sensitizing people across their communities on the need for promoting peace and understanding among themselves and the State in general. He says the Karai Karai people are known for their hard work, loyalty and tolerance. He commends them for their patience and support to Mai Mala Buni’s administration. He further commends the leadership of Karai Karai from Yobe and Bauchi. He also says that the festival will go a long way in promoting mutual coexistence, togetherness, unity and peace among individuals.
Also, speaking about the special guest of honour, Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala A. Mohammed, represented by his Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan says, “Bauchi State Governor is passionate about the promotion of cultural festivals which is a very important tool for the development of tourism and wealth creation.”
The guest speaker at the occasion, Alhaji Mahmood Yayale Ahmad, who is the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Ajiyan Katagum, explained that the event has over time became an event where the Karai Karai people evaluate the progress of their people at home and in diaspora, as well as fashioned out ways of doing more to impact the upcoming generations.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, the Attorney General who is the Yobe State Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Sale Samanja, says that the cultural festival is a veritable tool for unity, development and economic development which must be sustained and promoted beyond the shores of the country.
The annual festival features the spiritual appearance of Marqui and an annual massage from him as well as the display of traditional dances.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by the speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiroman Buba Mashio, as well as Hon. Digma Maina, Hon. Sani Musa Lawan, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu and Hon Ishaku Sani Daya. Other members of the team were Prof. Bello kawuwa, Hon. Alh. Aji Yerima Bularafa Mal Terab of Gujba and Kadafur of Tikau, and Hon. Musa Gamcho Tela, as well as Hon. Ahmad Lawan Mirwa. Also on the team were the Vice Chairman and Council Secretary of Fune Local Government, and Alh. Babaji D. Galadima, Comrade Gambon Dahiru, and Umar Garba, among others.
