Sokoto State Government Flags Off Distribution of Ramadan Food Items

The Sokoto State Government has officially commenced the distribution of food items and funds for the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Program. The flag-off ceremony was performed by the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, FCNA, at the Waziri Junaidu History and Culture Bureau on Tuesday.

Present at the event were the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, alongside Hon. Abubakar Shehu (Yabo Constituency), Chairman of the House Committee on Religious Affairs, and other members of the State Legislature. Hon. Shehu also serves as a member of the State Committee on Ramadan Feeding 2025.

The Ramadan Feeding Program aims to provide essential food supplies and financial support to feeding centers across the state. The government has allocated:

5,000 bags of rice

1,500 bags of millet

1,500 bags of sugar

Hundreds of bags of dates and tamarind

Working tools and financial aid

During the event, selected feeding centers received food items and cash support to kickstart the program. The initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to supporting fasting Muslims, alleviating hunger, and ensuring a smooth Ramadan experience for residents, particularly the less privileged.

The distribution will continue across the state, reaching various centers to cater to the needs of the fasting population.
