PDP Urges President Tinubu to Reassess Policies Amid Rising Hardship in Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review his administration’s policies, citing increasing hardship and poverty among Nigerians.

Hon. Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the PDP National Chairman, voices the opposition party’s concerns, criticizing what he describes as the government’s failure to address the pressing needs of citizens. Dingyadi laments that current policies have exacerbate economic challenges, leading to widespread suffering, hunger, and insecurity, particularly in northern states.

“Under this administration, our people are more impoverished, lacking clear focus about unity and cohesion in the country,” Dingyadi states. He accused the government of implementing policies that increase hardship rather than provide relief for citizens.

The PDP chieftain pointed to instances in states like Oyo, Anambra, and Abuja, where citizens lost their lives, while trying to access essential food supplies during palliative distributions. He further highlights the plight of northern communities such as Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Katsina, where insecurity has disrupted farming activities and worsened food shortages.

According to Dingyadi, the administration’s approach has left many Nigerians unable to meet their basic needs, with a significant portion of the population now reliant on food aid. “Currently, about 70% of Nigerians have become beggars, waiting for food to be distributed in the name of palliatives,” he remarks.

The PDP also accuses members of the National Assembly of neglecting their responsibilities, claiming they have become more of a burden than a solution to the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians.

Dingyadi emphasizes that after two years of President Tinubu’s leadership, there has been no significant improvement in the lives of Nigerians. “Those who expected relief have instead become victims of hardship,” he says, urging the administration to adopt a more compassionate and effective approach to governance.

The PDP calls on President Tinubu to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians, reassess his policies, and address the issues of poverty, insecurity, and economic instability plaguing the nation.
