NDLEA Dislodges Notorious Drug Joints in Kano Ahead of Festive Season
In a sweeping effort to ensure a safe and drug-free environment for Christmas and New Year celebrations, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has dislodged several notorious drug hubs in the state. The operation, conducted on December 24, 2024, targeted high-risk areas including Fagge, Sani Abacha Stadium, Danagundi, and the infamous Filin Idi drug den.
The successful raid led to the arrest of 34 individuals. While investigations are ongoing to identify and prosecute drug dealers, users apprehended during the operation will be offered counseling and support to aid their recovery.
A significant quantity of illicit substances, including Cannabis sativa, “suck and die,” and Exol-5, were confiscated during the operation. In addition to the drugs, the NDLEA also recovered dangerous weapons reportedly used by drug peddlers to resist law enforcement.
The NDLEA describes the seizures as a testament to its commitment to eradicating drug networks and ensuring a drug-free festive season in Kano. Commander Abubakar Idris Ahmad, head of the NDLEA Kano State Command, emphasizes the agency’s unwavering dedication to promoting a safer community.
“These operations highlight our resolve to combat drug abuse and trafficking, particularly during periods of celebration. Christmas and New Year should be moments of joy and unity, free from the destructive influence of substance abuse,” Commander Ahmad states.
The NDLEA calls for greater community cooperation in the fight against drug-related issues, urging citizens to report suspicious activities and support the agency’s efforts.
On behalf of Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), CON, OFR, Chairman and CEO of the NDLEA, Commander Ahmad extends warm holiday greetings to the people of Kano. He wishes residents a peaceful Christmas celebration and a New Year free from the dangers of drug abuse.
The NDLEA remains committed to safeguarding the health and safety of Kano’s citizens and ensuring that the festive season is celebrated in a secure and drug-free environment.
