Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto Swears in 14 Judicial Officers, Pledges Support for Judiciary in Sokoto State
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has sworn in seven High Court Judges and seven Khadis for the Sharia Court of Appeal, reiterating his administration’s commitment to upholding judicial independence and promoting justice across the State.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Aliyu congratulates the newly appointed Judges and Khadis, urging them to perform their duties with transparency, integrity, and fairness. He emphasizes the importance of ensuring justice is served with dignity and reminds the appointees of the significant responsibility they now bear in strengthening the State’s judicial system.
The newly sworn-in High Court Judges include: Mariya Haruna Dagon Daji, Hadiza Sahabi Jaredi, Shuaibu Ahmed, Fatima Hassan, Fatima Saidu Muhammed, Nura Muhammad Bello, and Abubakar Moyi. The seven Khadis for the Sharia Court of Appeal are Abdulaziz Muhammad Yar Abba, Abubakar Lawal, Ibrahim Bello Sokoto, Bello Iman Abubakar, Lawal Muhammad Abibu, Umar Ibrahim Bodinga, and Umar Kabir Marnona.
Governor Aliyu highlights key steps taken by his administration to support the judiciary, including the approval of a new High Court complex, renovations for the Sharia Court of Appeal complex, and the provision of new official vehicles for the appointees. These measures, he notes, are part of the Government’s broader efforts to enhance judicial infrastructure and improve access to justice for all citizens.
“Our administration is committed to fostering a judicial system that is independent, efficient, and accessible to all. We believe that a strong judiciary is fundamental to good governance, and we will continue to support initiatives that promote justice and fairness in Sokoto State,” the Governor states.
The ceremony marks a significant milestone in the State’s judicial history, as the new appointees are expected to play critical roles in delivering justice and addressing the legal needs of the citizens of Sokoto State.
