Governor Ahmad Aliyu Flags Off Free Fertilizer Distribution for Dry Season Farming in Sokoto State
In a bid to bolster agricultural productivity and support farmers, Governor Ahmad Aliyu has launched the distribution of free fertilizer for dry season farming in Wamakko Local Government Area (LGA). The initiative underscores the Sokoto State Government’s commitment to enhancing food security and empowering farmers across the State.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Aliyu announces that every LGA in the state will receive three trucks of fertilizer, ensuring equitable access to this critical farming input. This measure is part of a broader agricultural development strategy that includes the enhancement of irrigation schemes, such as the recently completed Kware Irrigation Project and ongoing works at Wurno and Lugu Dam.
The governor also highlights plans to provide farmers with advanced farming tools to boost productivity and transform agriculture into a cornerstone of economic growth and job creation in Sokoto State.
In a stern warning, Governor Aliyu cautions against the diversion of these vital resources, emphasizing that anyone caught engaging in such activities would face the full force of the law.
“This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to empowering farmers and ensuring food security in Sokoto State. Let us seize these opportunities to transform agriculture into a pillar of economic growth and job creation,” Governor Aliyu states.
The program is expected to significantly enhance dry season farming, contributing to the state’s long-term agricultural development and economic sustainability.
