Accidental Bombing of Sokoto Villagers by the Army Claims Lives
In the wake of a tragic incident in Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa communities within the Silame Local Government Area, Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the affected families. The incident, caused by an accidental misfire from the Nigerian Army, resulted in the loss of innocent lives and left several others injured.
Addressing the people of Sokoto State, Governor Aliyu describes the event as heartbreaking and avoidable. “As your governor, I am deeply saddened by this loss of life. On behalf of the government and the people of Sokoto State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” he says.
The governor reveals that he is in direct communication with the leadership of the Nigerian Army to ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the tragic incident. He also pledges the government’s commitment to supporting the affected families and engaging with relevant authorities to prevent such occurrences in the future.
In a move to provide immediate relief, Governor Aliyu visits the affected communities and announces a donation of N20 million and 100 bags of assorted food items to the families of the deceased. He also assures that the state government would cover the medical expenses of those injured in the incident.
“This is a time for us to stand united as a community. I urge all residents to remain calm and pray for peace in our state and nation. May the Almighty comfort the bereaved families and grant eternal rest to the departed souls,” he adds.
The governor reaffirmes his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of Sokoto residents, promising to work towards preventing similar tragedies in the future.
