Governor Ahmad Aliyu Commissions Remodeled Ruggar Wauru Mosque, Expands Islamic Development Initiatives in Sokoto

In a significant step towards strengthening Islamic development in Sokoto State, Governor Ahmad Aliyu officially commissioned the remodeled Ruggar Wauru Juma’at Mosque on Friday. The event marked a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to religious growth and community welfare.

As part of his broader agenda for Islamic development, Governor Aliyu announced a major enhancement to the state’s Ramadan Feeding Program, which will see improvements in food quality and an expansion of feeding centers to reach more vulnerable individuals.

His administration has also embarked on a large-scale renovation of mosques and Islamiyya schools, with several already completed and many more under construction. In a move to further support religious leaders, the state has introduced monthly allowances for Imams and Muazzins, while also allocating maintenance funds for 90 Juma’at Mosques to ensure their upkeep.

Additionally, the revitalized Hisbah Board is making significant progress in addressing social issues, reinforcing moral standards, and promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.

Governor Aliyu expressed deep gratitude to the Sultanate Council and the people of Sokoto for their unwavering support. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to uphold the values of the community and improve the lives of its people.

“Our commitment to Islamic development remains strong, and we will continue to implement policies that benefit our people and preserve our religious heritage,” he stated.

The commissioning of the remodeled mosque and these wide-ranging initiatives underscore the administration’s vision for a more inclusive and spiritually enriched Sokoto State.
