Sokoto Governor Commiserates with Kara Market Fire Victims

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, has expressed deep sympathy to the victims of the devastating fire outbreak at the Kara Market timber shade, which resulted in millions of Naira in property losses. Describing the incident as heartbreaking, the Governor offers prayers for the affected traders, seeking Almighty Allah’s intervention to replenish their losses and protect against future tragedies.

During his visit to the market, Governor Ahmad Aliyu announces the formation of a seven-member committee led by Hon. Dalhatu Sidi Mamman Asarakkawa. The committee is tasked with investigating the cause of the fire, assessing the extent of the damage, and recommending appropriate measures to support the traders in rebuilding their businesses.

During this harmattan season, the Governor issues a strong appeal to residents to take extra precautions, especially when dealing with flammable materials, to prevent similar occurrences.

Governor Ahmad Aliyu also commends the swift intervention of the Sokoto State Fire Service and the courageous efforts of good samaritans who played crucial roles in containing the fire and minimizing further losses.

“This tragedy has tested our resilience as a community, but I am confident that, together, we will rebuild and emerge stronger,” the Governor says.

Efforts are underway to implement measures that will aid the victims and ensure adequate fire prevention strategies are put in place across the State.
