A New Era of Inclusive Empowerment for Pensioners with Disability in Osun State
I had the privilege of attending a remarkable event earlier today, where the governor of Osun State, His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, the deputy Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Prince Kola Adewusi and the ex-president of Nigeria, President Obasanjo gathered to present free health insurance cards and distribute life-support kits and gadgets to Pensioners and people with disabilities.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with hope and determination. The event, held at Freedom Park Osogbo, Capital of Osun State, brought together stakeholders from various organizations advocating for the rights and empowerment of pensioners and people with disabilities.
The governor, in his opening remarks, emphasized on the importance of creating an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive. The ex-president, who was the guest of honor, praised the State government’s efforts in promoting disability rights and providing support to those in need. He also encouraged the private sector to join hands with the government in empowering people with disabilities.
As I reflected on the event, I realized that empowering people with disabilities is not just a moral obligation but also a necessary step towards building a more inclusive and equitable society. The distribution of free health insurance cards and life support kits and gadgets marked a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to support people with disabilities. It was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces as they received these life-changing tools.
