“You Are Inviting War” – Osun Governorship Aspirant

Amidst the unabated killings taking place in the country, Osun state governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Elder Dr. Samuel Ibiyemi, has accused those suggesting that Christians should defend themselves of “inviting war.”

Dr. Ibiyemi, stated this recently in an exclusive interview with Livinghope Magazine as he reacted to the recent attacks in Plateau State which has claimed hundreds of lives.

In his words: “Those who say Christians should defend themselves are inviting war. You can say Nigerians should defend themselves, you should add ‘against any attack,’ but when you say Christians should defend themselves, you are inviting crises.”

“Some people are trying to divide Nigeria while hiding under the canopy of religion and they are saying things that will create more division,” He stated.

The governorship hopeful who believes that the killings are not religiously inclined asked politicians to stop politicizing the killings.

“Politicians are the ones behind the killings,” he stated. “Politicians can do anything just to make sure that they use something to cover it and call it a name.”

“They want to give President Mohammed Buhari a bad image because he is a Fulani man, so that they will say he is the one who is doing it.” Ibiyemi added.

Responding to the statement recently credited to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, where he asked Nigerians to choose between their land and their lives, the aspirant defended the Special Adviser, stating that he was misquoted.

According to Ibiyemi, who is also a media expert: “Adesina was misquoted. Adesina cannot say choose between your land and your life. Adesina is my brother; he is a pastor in Firstsquare Gospel, so he cannot say that.”

Regarding the comment made by General Theophilus Danjuma that Christianity will cease to exist in the next 25 years, the aspirant questions General Danjuma’s standing in Christianity.

“What has he done in terms of evangelism?” Ibiyemi asked. “How many people can he identify that he brought to Christ? He has small knowledge of the Bible, that’s why he is saying that. He is trying to (politicize) it.”

“The more you continue to invite the Holy Spirit to speak to people and to fight those who are fighting Christians, if this is not politicized, Jesus will fight,” He concluded. “Nobody in government would ever wish that a particular religion should die.”
