Run The Race

Tim Tebow and his brother Robby Tebow have come together to executive produce the film Run the Race. The film is directed by Chris Dowling and it was written by Dowling, Jake McEntire, and Jason Baumgartner.  Run the Race stars Tanner Stine as David one of the main characters and Evan Hofer as Zach, the other main character. Mykelti Williamson plays the role of the coach and Francis Fisher is the boys’ surrogate mother. Secondary roles in the movie are played by Kristoffer Polaha, Mario Van Peebles, and Eddie George, a Heisman Winner. According to USA Today, both Tim and Bobby Tebow have cameo roles in the movie, but the roles may not be in the final cut of the film. The film is made by Reserve entertainment and 10th leper productions. Run the Race was filmed in Birmingham, Alabama.

The plot of the film tells the story of brothers, David and Zach. The brothers are recovering from the death of their mother and their father’s abandonment of them. Zach is an All-State football player who is hoping to receive a college scholarship and give the brothers a better life. Zach has an injury and is forced to stop playing football. His brother David decides to put on his track cleats in an effort to give his brother hope and give both of them a future. The film aims to tell the theme of “. . . What’s possible when you run to- instead of from- the overwhelming love of God.”

The director of the film explains the ideas behind Run the Race. ” We set out to make a film that engages the crowd while retaining a universal, timeless appeal. Young adults craving stories build on authenticity and we deliver with real characters having real conversations about love, family and trying to find his or her place in this sometimes crazy world.”

Athlete Eddie George believes that the sports metaphor used in the film is accurate and effective for the audience. “Sports really is a microcosm of how life is. Somebody’s going to deal with adversity. Somebody’s going to deal with loss. Somebody’s going to deal with pain. Somebody’s going to deal with victory and success. I think this film reflex that says George.

Tim Tebow was asked if he would consider doing more acting in the future. He stated to USA Today that, “I’m waiting for the right role that would click with my personality and my heart. It’s something I would be open to maybe one day.”

Bill Reeves, Erik Weir, Trey Brunson, Joe Kosakowski, and Erik Dellenback are also executive producers of the film.

The film does not have a release date yet, but one will be announced very soon. More information can be found at www.runtheracemovie.com. The public can register their email addresses on the website to receive updates for Run the Race.
